We are implementing the design of the central island in the form of a circular fountain that cascades down toward the center of the circle. Including the outer edge of the coping stone, the circular fountain has a diameter of 25 meters. The bottom of the fountain has a maximum depth of 3.90 meters. To enhance the sense of depth and clarify the interpretation and metaphor of geothermal energy, a mirrored spherical dome — 2.00 meters deep at the edges and 1.39 meters deep at the apex — complements the structure. The aim is to create the illusion of a water flow — this flow follows a gradient from nearly stagnant water at the level of the roadway to an increasingly rapid waterfall at the center of the circle. A cloud of water vapor generated hourly complements the spatial interpretation and illustrates the energy-rich geothermal energy and its significance for the region.
The edging stones, which define the spatial boundary between the water basin and the roadway surface, are to be crafted from the same material and with the same appearance as the precast concrete elements. Specifically, these edging stones are to be placed so that they overlap the concrete roadway, creating a visually seamless continuation of the roadway surface. The curb stone should be placed 5 cm higher than the roadway surface. Beneath the curb stones is the water-carrying channel. This channel has approximate dimensions of 40 cm in depth and 50 cm in width, which must be adapted to the technical conditions.
