Embedded in the landscape of the Styrian Almenland, the new alpine and hunting lodge replaces the existing structure while deliberately referencing its archetypal house form. The single-storey building follows the topography and positions itself as a restrained retreat within the landscape.
The floor plan is organized around a centrally positioned living and kitchen area, which forms the spatial and atmospheric heart of the house. From here, generous floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the interior to the landscape, offering wide views into the surrounding natural environment. The laterally arranged bedrooms are clearly separated from the communal areas and oriented selectively towards the landscape.
The expressive timber load-bearing structure defines the interior space. The exposed roof structure remains visible, lending the central living area its spatial generosity and clear order. The constructional logic is intentionally legible and, together with the continuous room height, forms the spatial backbone of the house. A centrally positioned fireplace acts as a spatial anchor within the living area.
The exterior appearance is defined by a continuous timber louvre façade, which articulates the elongated volume, provides solar shading for both interior spaces and terraces, and generates a changing appearance depending on viewpoint and light conditions. The result is an architecture that draws on traditional typologies while reinterpreting them in a consistently contemporary manner.

The material concept follows a reduced,
natural palette: timber surfaces,
